Activate an account
You can now activate a Trump Account for one or more of your children.
For more details about what this account is and how it works, check out the Trump Account overview.
To qualify to activate a Trump Account, the child must be:
Before you can complete the following steps to activate a new Trump Account, you must have already completed the IRS Form 4547 for your eligible child or children as the parent, legal guardian, or other authorized individual. Note that the following account information must match what was entered in Form 4547 for both the parent (or other authorized individual) and the child (children).
If you completed the IRS Form 4547 when you filed your 2025 taxes this year, then you’re all set. If not, log in to the IRS account portal and complete the IRS Form 4547 online. Note that if you electronically filed your taxes through IRS online services, you were required to sign in with ID.me. You must use the same email address and password you entered when you filed your taxes. For more details, check out their ID.me IRS Help Site.
You’ll get an email from no-reply@trumpaccounts.treasury.gov to finish the account activation process. After your account is activated, you’ll get in-app notifications and emails from trumpaccount.com about account activity and other actions or information needed, such as to claim gifts or contributions.
Note that you will be able to begin activating accounts in May 2026, and then you’ll be able to start making contributions on or after July 4, 2026. Also, the $1,000 pilot program contribution is currently planned to be deposited on or after July 4, 2026.
If you’ve completed the Form 4547 for other eligible children, the app will prompt you to enter details for each additional child.
After you’ve opened a Trump Account for the 1st child, you can then add more children by selecting Add child at the top of the account dashboard in the Trump Accounts app, and follow the on-screen steps to add them. You’ll be able to view and manage all your children’s Trump Accounts from one location in the app, using the same login credentials.
