Make a contribution

On or after July 4, 2026, anyone can contribute to a child’s Trump Account. Parents, family, and friends can contribute up to a total of $5,000 per year to an eligible child’s account. Employers can contribute up to $2,500 per year, per employee, which counts toward the $5,000 annual limit. Other donors, including non-profit organizations and state and local governments, can also contribute to these accounts. Note that qualified class contributions from non-profit donors or government add extra support and don’t count towards the annual contribution limit.

To make a contribution

The steps are different depending on if you’re the responsible party on the account, or someone who wants to contribute to your child’s Trump Account.

Note that you can set up recurring contributions only with a bank account and not a debit card account. When making a contribution, the app will show you what amount is eligible to be contributed.

Responsible party contribution

  1. After the account is set up for your child and you’ve linked a bank account or debit card, open this app link
  2. Select either Contribute or Setup recurring contributions
  3. Enter the amount
  4. Select the account you want to contribute From
  5. Choose a Frequency:
  • One time to make a one-time contribution today
  • Weekly for contributions to initiate every Monday
  • Twice a month for contributions to initiate on the 1st and 15th of every month
  • Monthly for contributions to initiate on the 1st of every month
  • Quarterly for deposits to initiate on the 1st of January, April, July, and October

  4. The contributor will receive a message with the QR code that links them to on-screen instructions to make a contribution

You can view contribution history and pending contributions in History, also accessible via the Contributions tab.

Timelines

  • Standard bank contributions can take up to 4 business days to be available, which will show as pending until they settle in the account.
  • Debit card contributions are typically processed instantly but may take up to 30 minutes depending on your bank.

Transfer verification

For contributions made using a newly linked debit card for the first time, you may be required to complete a verification for security purposes. Types of verification can differ by bank, like with SMS (text), ZIP code, or 1 or more security questions.

Cancel a pending or recurring contribution

Contributions with a debit card can't be canceled. For information on canceling a pending or recurring contribution from a bank account, review Contributions FAQ.
